MATT'S REVIEWS
Vote Toby played first last nite at this house party i went to with a group of freinds. they rocked and it was awsome. they were playing in a pretty enclosed area though so i cant hear much of anything today. but they seemed to be a very talented band.
Junior Varsity came on next. This was the second time i had seen them and i was soo incredibly impressed. Just like i was last time. I love this band soo much. Nick Dodson is awesome(even though he didnt play his sax much last nite). Asa is super hott and great singer/bass player. I honestly cant imagine the band before Asa. This other dude came up and sang one song. I think it was Say Goodnite but i can't remember to be honest. so yeah.
two kick ass bands last nite. coming up on September the 20th i will get to see Junior Varsity again.
September 20th....Junior Varsity.
another amazing show as expected. they always kick ass. this was an even more awesome show though because it was mostly new songs that will be on the new album coming out in November. looking forward to the next show in Quincy on Oct 11th and then again on Oct 17th at ISU. My brother's band is also doing a show in Peoria on Oct 31st. till next time. peace out.

The Junior Varsity @ a house party, 9/6/03
Matt's right. The Junior Varsity kicked total ass. Asa and Nick talked to me before they played, too, which made me feel pretty cool. My neck still hurts from rocking out so hard... we were able to push up to the front line, and we were so close we almost got rocked in the face by Asa's bass. The second song they played was Introduction to the Faint Remembrence of a Dead and Dying Dream (click on the link to hear the song), and they also played Say Goodnight and we got them to play Falling Far Behind as their last song. I'm glad it was the last song, because I don't think I could've moved much more after that. Nick did awesome on his sax for Say Goodnight, and everyone was totally into the music. I wish The Junior Varsity would make some kickass fitted baseball caps... I'd love to sport one of those around campus.
Vote Toby played before TJV, and they were good, but they had everything turned up just a little too loud for the house party. My ears were ringing hardcore after they were done. They had really good sound though, and I'm pretty disappointed that I didn't buy a CD when I was there. I did get a new JV t-shirt though... I'll have to wear that under my ugly shirt on Friday.
The Junior Varsity @ 360 Degrees (Quincy), 9/20/03
They were possibly even better tonight than they were when they were in Macomb. The fact that everyone around me wasn't drunk could have made it better, though, too. The band had a lot more room to move around, so they got way more into it. Nick was even moving around this time :) It was a really nice venue... raised parts for the band and drums... everyone really helped make it a great show. I'd be happy if the rest of the JV shows I go to turn out as well as this one did.
The Junior Varsity @ the East Peoria American Legion
Hands down the best show I've seen. It was just completely awesome. Nick finally got a keyboard stand, so he wasn't playing his synth on a pile of cases anymore. I was kind of sad to see the new invention. They were totally into it and rocked out the whole time... they started out with Intro, which is always great, then played I Sang a Song to be Sung, and Ohio, then they surprised me by playing Peter Cottontail and the Demise of the Carrot Tree. I hadn't seen that song live since the CD release show. It's a great song to see live because they start out with the T2 intro and everything. Then they played House Fire and ended with the always-climactic Anti-Climactic. Great show. Great, great show all around. I'm glad we made the trip.
